Strange post in my Nextdoor group. A car has been vandalised causing a lot of damage and an expensive repair by 'filling the engine up with bread and biscuits'.

I asked the poster exactly what has happened but no update. It's got me very curious - where would the bread and biscuits have been put and what damage could it cause? Seems bizarre to me

oops
I'd put the bread and biscuits in the petrol tank making sure they were well stuffed in.

Petrol tank I can understand - but engine?
Inside the oil-filler will intrfere with the oil circulating. In the radiator tank could cause over-heating problems.
Squirrels hiding food?
Must have been a difficult job, taking the head off, putting the bread & biscuits in, then replacing the head again without anyone noticing. Quite impressive really.
The bread would have gone into the petrol tank, but most cars now have locking covers.

In the old days cars were easily sabotaged by putting sugar in the tank which gummed up the jets in the carburetters.
It would not do anything in the fuel tank, there is a filter. If they stuffed it where the oil goes then that could interfere with oil getting round the engine and cause over heating.

I will report back if she gives any specifics, I would have said radiator or whatever, not engine
Bread in the engine may result in a crusty deposit.

Crumbs!
as long as it doesn't make the car roll.
