Bought some Nice biscuits when I was out today.  Some people pronounce it "Nice" but I pronounce it "Nice".  How do you pronounce it?

I pronounce it 'Nice'.

N-Ice

Niece!

Niece

Neece, like the place in France but no connection, apparently.

Maggie, I call them boring .

This is how you're supposed to pronounce Nice biscuits - YOU Magazine - The Mail (mailplus.co.uk)

Arnotts (the Australian maker of the biscuits) said, in reply to an enquiry, that the biscuit's name should be pronounced as is the name of the French city, viz. neece.

Quote:
"The name probably derives from the town of Nice in the south of France. 1929 editions of the Hull Daily Mail carried an advertisement for Huntley & Palmers Nice Biscuits using the phrase "Delightful as the town after which they are named", indicating that by this point their manufacturers intended the public to associate the biscuit with the French city, whether or not that had been the intended pronunciation".

I've always used the French pronunciation for them:

How do you pronounce it, Maggie?

Me - Niece

I've always pronounced it as Neice biscuits.

Even though I can't spell it!

Always pronounced them Nice, but need to read some of the posts and possibly change this.

Niece.  They are definitely  not nice.  Rarely buy biscuits but am a fan of kitkat dark.

Neeez

Lottie, a biscuit is not a biscuit without chocolate.

Don't worry about it Maggie.

I never know how to pronounce Lidl so I say it both ways.

You could call them those nice niece biscuits.

There is more than one way to say Lidl?  How else can you say it - I say it the same as 'little' but with d in the middle.

Barry, I've heard lots of people call it Leedle.

Anne.  I like gingernuts too!  But biscuits other than kitkat dark are not on our shopping list.  Hubby buys fig biscuits from Lidls occasionally.  I like the figs but not the horrid pastry surrounding them.

Oh and Nisa.  Is it nicer or neeser?
