Plonker that I am, I bought a pack of Waitrose Basmati rice to find it's par-boiled and for use in a microwave, an object that I don't have and when I did across the Pond hardly ever got used.

What would you suggest? Whack it in a saucepan, cover it with water, bring to the simmer and give it five or ten minutes and then drin and fluff - or go for the tea-towel absorption method.

Thanks!

Just chuck in a frying pan over a low flame with a bit of water or oil and heat it up.

Have chips instead.

thank you - don't think home-made coronation chicken and chips would be a good combo - instead, I'm making kitchiri rice.

I think you'll find microwave rice is already cooked so just needs heating/warming up. I'd just put it in a bowl and add some very hot water, give it a stir then drain it.

that effectively is what I have done and then added the salad ingredients as in peas, brown lentils, diced cucumber, shredded carrot, cumin and black mustard seeds with a little ev-oil and lemon juice.

Heating food up doesn't mean you have to microwave it. Just heat it as others have said.

DTC. What is ev oil?

I'm guessing olive oil.

Extra virgin olive oil

Thanks, cap'n.
