several years ago the supermarket chain Somerfield sold a super-strength lager called Flints, either brewed or imported by the Robert Cain Brewery from Liverpool. Somerfield stopped selling it about 3 years ago and I've been unable to find an alternative supplier. I contacted Robert Cains and they said it was a temporary stock problem but it still seems to be abscent from the shelves. Its a damn good 8.5% full bodied lager with no syrupy texture or sugary taste. AND I WANT SOME!!!! any idea?

Cains are on here: http://www.beersofeurope.co.uk/acatalog/Beers_of_Europe__Other_Breweries_77.html with their Raisin Beer (!) and this also says out of stock, so wonder if there is a problem all round for them?

The online shop for Cains may be a better bet: http://www.cainsshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=15442bb9bf53444/shopdata/0002_Finest+Beers/product_overview.shopscript

no, i've had a look and thats the site i went to before posting the question - to no avail!

Right - get a friend in Liverpool and go there and demand the beer !

- if you've rung the brewery, they should be able to tell you who the stockists are in the area you live in, so that may help and try the independent beer/wine shops near you, (not Oddbins or whatever) as they are more likely to know of a source as well.

Good luck..

Question Author
thanks nickmo, will do. I initially rang them about 3 years ago soon after I ran into problems getting hold of it. Maybe things have changed since then. Strange their website never has held any info on the brand. Maybe Cains dont really want to be associated with the stigma of super-strength lagers!
