For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Crem De La Creme for a curry or the Ashoka in the west End. Cant beat either of these. If you are looking for live music too I would head for the Ashoka as there are lots of nice bars around there with music. It can be reached by underground train or about 7 from city centre in a taxi. Hope this helps.
Please, whatever you do don't go to Edinburgh. Words can't describe its awfulness. Glasgow is officially the curry capital of Britain so the ones previously mentioned are good. For a pub i would recommend the Horse Shoe bar in the centre of town. Great atmosphere and there is Karaoke upstairs which is performed to a suprisingly high standard.
