i have a new-found love of avocado!
just how fatty is it? i've heard its very fatty, should i refrain from eating it when trying to loose some love handles?

I was always under the impression that pound-for-pound, it's the most fattening thing you can eat ...not sure if it's true ...that's what I was told...

@ 500 cals in one average avocado but I can't leave them alone, in fact, it's probably where my recent weight gain came from. Live dangerously, they're too good to avoid!
But you have to weigh up the pro's and cons - the fats it contains are good fats and out of all veg and fruit it contains the most vitamins...
YEs, they call it a 'superfood', apparently.
I've lost approx 3.5 stone in the last 4 months and Avocados are an important part of my diet...won't hear a bad word said against them!

And Argentinian scientists have developed a way to can avocados recently so look out for them in the shops soon - developed to be as good nutritionaly as fresh ones.
Yeah, as other members have said they contain good fats (ie. not saturated ones etc) but are quite high in calories. So stick to having them every so often, not all the time, and cut it in half and have a half for a starter or something :)
