I know it's purely personal choice, but are there any better spuds than Maris Pipers to roast (taste and result wise)? Tried King Edwards but I don't think they're as tasty.

maris pipers are great, have you tried dusting them with flour after par boiling them, prior to roasting oil, also try cooking them in duck fat or lamb fat, saved after roasting the meat, or butter as opposed to veg oil, desiree are are very alternitive, though depends on the time of year
They're "tasty tasty, very very tasty!!" lol

hey curlyfilm, our country_boy knows all about duck fat, he's still using the dripping from the roast duck he cooked the other week.

I agree that dusting them with flour certainly adds to the crispy exterior, with fluffy insides...yummy!!

Hi country_boy. What are you cooking tonight?x

Hi

Yeah I've tried flour too - sometimes I do, sometimes I don't - I find you don't need it with the duck fat - guaranteed results! Flour is my back-up plan!
Hi n00dles, last of the duck fat tonight :-/ had to add a bit of beef dripping! Over boiled the spuds, they're looking a bit small. In the oven now.
Hi Katie my lovely, 23oz fillet steak tonight, mushrooms, onions, red wine de-glaze and peppercorn sauce with green beans from the garden and peas. Think I may have bitten off more than I can chew!!! Not sure I'll manage the choc gateaux after! 40 mins to go!
Oh my life. That sounds wonderful. Set another place at the table, I'm on my way.x

I always swear by Estima, but couldn't get any last week so tried Marfona, and they were just as good if not better.
