Seem's quite stupid realy when there are so many different types of fish,to have one that can kill you if its not cooked properly.i would personaly have a bit of cod instead of this
I believe that It is not, wether it is is cooked properly, but if it is filleted properly as the liver is the bit that kills you, you have to have a licence to cook it!
too test if a fish too poisonous too eat, boil a small peice with a silver object, if the silver discolours, it is poisonous, if not, you can eat it

See i had a piece of cod for me tea and am still alive,But going back to this issue of having a licence to cook it.Say you have the liecence and you cook it and you serve it up for customer are you resposible if they die..?
yes because the whole point of having the licence is so that no-one dies
Question Author
seems a little harsh to me that doe's,I could think of a few people who i would not cook it properly for
A fish to die for.

Fugu, the lethal Japanese blowfish that contains enough poison to kill you 30 times over if not properly prepared.

You can pay upto $150 to taste a fish whose internal organs secrete a poison that is 270 times more toxic than cyanide, and will cause agonizing death within an hour if the specially trained and licensed fugu chef who surgically removes the deadly organs has had a bad day. Im not sure it is worth it. Besides that, the fish itself has very little taste.
