Vegs in fridge
4 Answers
My husband is retired and does the shopping and cooking. He likes to buy 3 or 4 packs of veg from M&S at a time so that i could be eating broccoli 4 days after he has brought it home. He says as long as it is inside the sell by date, it is OK. I think that every day it sits in the fridge it loses goodness and would prefer him to buy veg daily. Who is right?

Veg is refridgerated in super-markets as long as it's not in one of the island units. Tesco is good for this. Buying produce from the back is good advice as stock rotation ensures this is the freshest and, if in a cooled unit, probably the coolest.
The sell by date is advice for the supermarket staff on when to remove it from sale. This is different from best before date and the use by date.
