Either make a pastry case or you can use a crushed biscuit one.The usual recipe is to boil a tin ofcondensed milk for about an hour and a half but the manufacturers frown on this idea as the tin could explode.I have heated it in a pan but you need to keep stirring it and keep an eye that it doesn`t go too brown.Slice your bananas, put them in the case and spoon your caramel over. Serve with cream. If you do the crushed biscuit one, ginger snaps make a nice change.
you put the condensed milk in a pot of boiling water (on a hob) and leave simmer on a gentle heat for about two hours (you put the whole can in the water dont open it or anything just buy the condensed milk and put it in the pot, you can remove the label if you want to)
crush the biscuits in the bottom of a cake tin, put the condensed milk(now toffee) on top of the biscuits then add the sliced bananas then finally put the whipped cream on top
decorate with whatever you want eg.grated chocolate or crushed Cadbury's Flake
refridgerate for about an hour before serving and store in the fridge. it will keep for quite a long time but it will probly go very fast as it is very tasty.
forgot to say take out of cake tin after the hour refridgeration and serve on a nice plate or something.
Never heard of Eagle Brand in the UK BBWCHATT, but you can buy Carnation Caramel which is the condensed milk already caramlised. I just buy a sweet pastry case, slice a banana or two into the case, spread over the tin of Carnation Caramel and top with whipped double cream then sprinkle some chocolate flakes or something on top. Very quick and easy.
Bake a pastry case blind , boil condensed milk in the tin , unopened, for three hours.when cooled, spread over pastry base cover with sliced bananas and then whip the double cream with one teaspoon of icing sugar and two heaped teaspoons of instant coffee and spread over the flan.
