I was looking at a carton of fruit juice the other day and noticed it was very high in sugar, are fruit juices as good for you as intuition would indicate?
Fruit juices are high in sugar but it's naturally occuring sugars (Fructose) so it's not much to worry about! They are still healthy but the juice can cause dental carries (Tooth Decay) if consumed too frequently!
If you buy a fruit juice that is 100% made from fruit and not from concentrate it wont have all the added additives and sweetners in it, fruit does contain a lot of natural sugars though.
some cartons of what we assume to be just fruit juice, do have sugar added to them though, so it is worth just checking on the label. we have diabetes in the family so i am very aware of this and check labels all the time. look at the 'contents' list, rather than nutritional value.

Advice on how healthy a particular thing is often changes. Juice is healthy but as you point out, is high in sugar. Some can be acidic too. So drink it in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
And yes, fruit is less concentrated than fruit juice, so is a better option. It has a lower percentage of sugar plus the goodness of the pulp. And any carton where the description is 'something drink' is basically sugar water with some added juice. I tend to avoid those, I could make sugar water at home if I wished.
