Make a jam, or........
preserve in sugar syrup (in sterilised jars)
make a cherry marmalade
add to blackberries or raspberries and make up a mixed fruit conserve
freeze, in sugar syrup
prep and add to oat bars, biscuits etc
pickle them for use in recipes like adding to duck, game, fish or salads
dry and use in a home made 'trail mix' with seeds and nuts for snacking - make up enough and its a nice home made present that costs very little and looks nice in a jar....wrap in a ribbon and it looks really special...
candy them, mix with other dried fruit for a treat - and dip in melted chocolate....
bake in a cake for later
soak in brandy or a liqueur and store for the autumn

Different methods will suit different types of fruit - are they sweet, sour or bitter varieties?

Hope this gives some ideas..
Please send some my way, I love cherries and would be extremely happy to help you eat them. :-)
A very simple way would be to preserve them in alcohol. Brandy in particular. Just simply fill at jar with your cherries (no need to pit them) and pour enough brandy over to cover them. After a week or 2 they develop a beautiful flavour. Ideal with ice cream, or put into crepes.
