I'm on the slim fast diet to lose a big of weight before my holiday. since I started it on friday, I have been having a shake for breakfast and lunch (no snacks) and then a healthy evening meal like chicken with veg. The slimfast website states to have a 600 calorie evening meal, so will there be a problem with me eating a Big Mac (600 calories) for my evening meal?
yes I have read a few reviews where people say they suffered from wind, however, it doesn't seem to be having that effect on me thank goodness.
I'm so desperate to lose a few llbs before my holiday though that I'm prepared to suffer anything!!!
Well yes there would, it says 'Healthy' evening meal and there is nothing healthy about a Big Mac. According to McDonalds website, there are 540 calories in a Big Mac and almost half of those (260) come from fat!
A healthy evening meal is supposed to be balanced, mostly vegetables and carbohydrates, a lesser amount of protein and a small amount of sugary or fatty foods. etc. Eating 50% fat isn't very balanced.
If you drink plenty of ice cold water, your body will use uyp calories heating it up (easy!). As for the big mac, i would not recommend it as a main meal, partly because it has a great deal of fat, salt and other ingredients that your body could do without/in low quantities. It is also unlikely to fill you up and so you will probably snack more. Try to eat vegetables (mix them with pasta sauce and cheese, its lovely!) as they have lots of fibre, will fill you up and dont have many calories.
Save the Big Mac for after your holiday when the weather gets colder. Or on holiday! If you want to lose weight make sure your 600cals are well spent by eating high fibre, low GI foods, like oats, beans, whole grains, vegetable-based dishes cooked from scratch like chillies, curries etc. Avoid bread and any wheat and dairy as it does you no good. Have lots of sweet potato, fish and salad. You can actually get more food for your 600cals and this type of food will fill you up far more than a Big Mac, and your body will thank you for it!
Hi - Im on a 300 cal diet from the hospital (its safe!) and too need ideas of things to eat that are only 300 cals. I feel full all day everyday due to the meds I take, but no idea what to eat!? Any help? thanks
Salzburg- I can't believe the hospital have put you on this diet and not told you what to eat!! Can I ask why only 300cals? Sounds very very strict to me.
It is vital you get all your nutrients, so whatever you eat, make sure you are taking a good multivitamin. Eat vegetables, fruit and salad as they are good for you and low calorie. If you can only have 300 cals a day it may safer to do something like Slimfast which is carefully measured out for you, and has the vits included. Whatever you eat, make sure it is wholesome. No sugar, processed food or salty stuff. Good luck though!!
Thats a good idea - whats the slim fast calorific content? I could maybe have 2 shakes and no evening meal? I have vitamin tablets and hormone tablets and the amphetamines...so really dont feel at all hungry, just need to keep eating! Its basically the same level as gastric bypass surgery without the surgery! lol
How is the slim fast Kirsty?
a slimfast chocolate shake is 210.
A chocolate snackbar is 98.
They also do smoothies, pasta and soup.
Oatcakes are 40 cals each, put a strawberry on top, very nice.
Carrs water biscuits are 17 cals each, no fat
You could try salad, some lean meat, no fat yogurt, very low cal cup a soup, highlights hot chocolate.
Make a vegatable soup up yourself, with no fat is almost no calories
Salzburg- that sounds interesting. So basically your appetite is being suppressed using drugs in order to lose weight? What are the long term side effects of amphetamines- can you get addicted to them? Also what about when you come off them- how do they re-educate you regarding what and what to eat?
Been thinking about the Slim-fast and maybe it's not such a good idea. Your body needs roughage- hard to get in 30 cals I know. But could you have some nice fish or lean chicken and some vegetables (steamed) once a day, either for lunch or dinner? Weigh the ingredients and make sure you don't go over 300 cals. That will do you more good than some milk with vitamins in, especially if you are having vitamins through the Doc anyway. Too many vits can actually be a bad thing, and your body will expell any that you don't actually need.
hi all, the slimfast is going really well I have lost 7lbs in just over 1 week and I'm starting to see the difference around my waist especially. I have managed to stay away from the bigmac and I have been following everyone's advice. I have especially been drinking lots of chilled water! 2 weeks to go until my holiday so hopefully I will lose a few more lbs before then!
