How is it that you can buy raw frozen chicken and cook it without thawing it first. How is it different from the chicken I freeze myself but for safety reasons I must thaw before cooking?
Miffy - I am an old lady now and I have been cooking fish/meat/poultry from frozen all of my life with no problem ever. The only time I thaw is if I want to leave it in a marinade in the fridge overnight and it is thawed or at least partially thawed by the time I am ready to use it.
You are told to thaw poultry thoroughly prior to cooking as a large bird could be cooked on the outside but still raw on the inside as the heat has merely started to thaw the centre out rather than cook it.
For pieces of chicken such as breast, thighs, etc , that shouldn't be a problem as they are smaller and quicker to thaw and cook as a result.
