Why do we have vegetarian Sausages, Haggis and the likes? Surely vegetarians shouldnt want sausage or haggis so why not call it something different and avoid meat eaters picking up the veggie option by mistake !!!!! They are almost identically packaged at times.
Oh my lovely whisky sauce went to waste when I discovered my veggie haggis!!!
because most vegetarisn have just become that because they dont want to kill animals not because they dont like the taste, and I think suasage is just the way its made isnt it
Hi 4get, well yeah I suppose but we generally think of sausage and haggis as meat items, it would be better if they had a different title I think. There are different types, shapes and makes of sausage.
There is normaly a separate Organic section, so maybe a veggie section?
seperate organic section!! Not in mine it really does my head in I'm in a rush go in and pick up the green milk only to find when I get home I've spent a fortune on organic :-)
O we even have a Polish section in outr Tescos -get a grip -when in Rome and all that.
Here theyre not slow off the mark getting their family to send over cheap fags and then sell them on -it seems like they have it all sewn up -lol -well not lol as it happens as they dont integrate at all and send all their money back to Poland so in a year or 2 they have a brand new house -yet they dont give anything to this country at all.
O what was the Q again *oops* pet hate at the moment.
I love veggie haggis and they are made the way they are as it is just convenient not to imitate meat -i know this as my family are veggies-and even I prefer vegetarian meals.
Al -whats the Whisky sauce- now thats interesting -lol
Hi weeal, they do have a different title, it says on the boxes vegetarian sausages lol Never heard of vegetarian haggis though, maybe thats limited to Scotland?
The supermarkets down here have seperate sections for both vegetarian and organic foods. The shop along the road even has a Polish section!
I am by no means vegetarian, but thought it wise to reduce red meat intake a bit, so I tried Linda McCartney sausages and loved them. My latest craze is ASDA veggie beefburgers. I have to say however, that the swaying factor was that they are microwaveable - no messy pans, no spits of oil over the cooker and floor. I overwhelm them with sprouts and chilli sauce anyway, so the taste is not critical.
lol weeal, yes Im feeling more and more swell as the days go on! Im wondering now if I would fly round the room like a deflating balloon if I stuck a pin in myself lol
Im curious about the veggie haggis now though......... all of you who have had/seen it, are you all north of the border?
Does it really matter if you eat a vege version by accident - as long as it tastes good? I had a friend who was apalled that a vegetarian cafe didn't tell her she was eating vege chilli-con-carne, she hadn't noticed the difference and still enjoyed it.
