Next time you cook fish, pour a tablespoonful of ordinary vinegar into a saucer and place that on a work-top before you even get the fish out of the fridge. It neutralises the smell wonderfully, as I've discovered having had kippers for Friday breakfast for many years. Might still be worth giving it a go even now and surely can't do any harm.
Price's Chefs Candle lit before you cook fish and leave burning afterwards for a while. If you cant find them in shops they can be purchased from lakeland plastics, I prefer the one in a tin to the tealights. ,or there is one in a glass. My husband used to hate me cooking fish but not anymore.Think Robert Dyas may stock them too.Great for all cooking smells.
the best way to cook fish and not have the house smelling like Billingsgate is to cook it in foil parcels. Buttered, splash of wine/lemon juice, slice of lemon, sprig of fennel/parsley grind of pepper scrunch up - cook lovely!!!
I use aromatic oils in one of those tea light candle burners. Body Shop do one called "Exotic" which is quite powerful and neutralises any fish cooking smells.
