I usually do 1 or 2 trays of fresh fruit in bite size pieces.Pineapple, melon, mandarin or satsuma segments, strawberries, red and green grapes.I don't use apples pears or plums as they tend to go brown.Arrange them in line, looks really effective or in circles if using round tray. Takes a bit of time and patience but worth it in the end.

hiya not sure if its too late to post but i usually buy a bag of small spuds and do mini baked potatos
some with grilled cheese, some cheese and ham and some with prawns etc etc
they always go down a storm
celery filled with cream cheese
samosas and spring rolls
yorkshire puddings (mini done in cake tin) served with a pot of chutney and a pot of jam on te side
also festival - jamaican roll shaped yorkshire pudding - sweeter version goes down a storm
deviled eggs
prawn toasts
mini muffins
strawberries, mango, apple, sliced then skewered on cocktail sticks and dipped in a variety of white/dark/milk chocolate
