Pineapple Pieces in Cans
9 Answers
I'm puzzled about how on earth pineapple canners manage to reassemble pineapple rings in cans out of pineapple pieces. It seems to me to be a remarkable feat and the sort of thing they'd invent some sort of robotic system to do. Or is it possible that the rings are sliced in situ in the cans before or after the syrup or juice is poured in? Does anyone know how this is done? Thanks.

When a can of pineapple pieces is opened, the pineapple ring can be seen neatly cut into over a dozen segments inside the can. Each successive pineapple ring is cut up in the same way. I can't see how these individual segments can be held together to enable them to be dropped into the can.
