cucumber sandwiches

How many people actually enjoy the above? What's so good about them?
I like cheese, cucumber & salad cream sandwiches but I couldn't eat cucumber sarnies on it's own.
What combination of sandwich with cue do you like?

Cucumber sarnies are fab (so are tomato ones) but only if you use real butter on the bread, and don't forget the salt and pepper. As a combo though, chicken, cue and mayo takes some beating!

lol... I adore thin slices of white bread with cucumber and cream cheese but absolutely no butter or marg...that would be a fat overload.... I cannot eat butter when its cold (imagine biting into a slab of cold fat...yuk...lol) and I have to have marg put on, then most of it taken off... hehe... cheese, thin slices of tomato and a thin sliver of mayo is lovely to my taste buds !

You need to soak the sliced cucumber in vinegar before putting it in the sandwich, otherwise it is just bland and boring.

lol Rollo.... I love crusts on bread... I simply can't cope with vinegar lol....

Anyway...back to the cucumber sarnies... lol..

Ooops, just read the Q again ... I don't like salad cream either (probably just the vinegar element) lol... but I do love mayo... so how about we agree to have egg mayo sarnies with cress and a bit of mayo ? I'll happily eat the wholewheat ones and you can have the white bread (or vice versa ?)... your place or mine lol....

I think small cucumber sandwiches are quintessentially Old England (particularly at tiffin)

I wouldn't say no, but agree they may be a little bland.

Cucumber and salami goes very well together on nutty or granary bread with some olive oil and black pepper.

I might give cue soaked in vinegar a try with cheese & salad cream

I like the sound of cue & salami abs - give that a go too
