Just having a glass.

Is there any drink anywhere that could remind you more of being a child ...

... picnics, bike rides, long hot summers, making daisy chains on the lawn, summer frocks, straw hats with ribbons, and ... most of all

... elderflower cordial.

Just drinking it makes me feel about 10 years old.

Have to say though- i've never ever wore a straw hat with ribbons in it! Kids at school would have kicked my head in if i did.

I love elderflower cordial but thought it was quite grown up.. we certainly never had it when we were kids. did you have a charmed childhood, Jayne?

me? orange squash. and if we were ill or feeling cold, hot orange squash.

no wonder I grew up to hate anything orange flavour!

I just seem to associate elderflower cordial with picnics, and tea on the lawn.

Recipe for Spanish Juice.


Take one large empty pop bottle with a screw top.
Break into small pieces about 6 hard spanish sticks (liquorice..sp) and place in bottle.
Fill bottle with tap water.
Place bottle in a dark place (usually in cupboard under stairs)
Leave there for about 3 days.
Drink and enjoy.....Yummy at the time but sounds revolting now.

Yes puss, it does sound a bit revolting.

Apparently I was thinking of Spanish Fly. Buy it in any good sex shop, hide it in a dark place (with you fermenting Spanish Juice), slip a few drops in your boyfriend's drink and, hey presto ...

... barber's pole !!!

(then you spend all night throwing up in the bathroom after drinking some Spanish Juice you found under the stairs)
