Talking to old SAM , 70 summit years old. Stayed in tyne-side and during the war , around 1942/43 he was talking about eating a custard sandwich.Apparently you could by tins of custard , powder i think , without egg in it , various flavours and this was nice between a few slices of bread.
Never heard of that though Ive heard of a piece on lard or dripping.Which is a dripping/lard sandwich .
