Hi
I want to make a tasty soup but I dont want to us any fats including cream or butter and I also cant use potato as I dont like soups with potato in.

I have tried making soups without using these items but they always turn out horrible and tasteless.

Anyone know a good recipe.

Make a chunky vegetable soup.....carrots,celery,parsnip,peas,leeks....almost any kind you like. Put in 1-2 veggie stock cubes......and dried herbs such as basil or oregano, along with lots of freshly ground black pepper. You can also put rice or pasta in....and add tiny meatballs.

Some men just need a swift kick up the.....

oops..sorry fabemmy...we will try to continue this fight in CB...lol
No hun - I'm not just saying this for argument's sake. I love your jokes, but in this case - no.
i make soup much as pasta does. chuck in a mixture of any old veg i have and boil it up with some stock (i use the lower salt stock powder). i don't pre-fry anything, but sometimes when it's tenderised, i blitz half of it to make a thick soup. you can vary the quantities of each veg you use depending on personal taste ( i like lots of carrots in mine). also you can add a tin of some kind of bean (kidney, barlotti, etc.), tin of tomatoes, and some snapped up spaghetti. it really is a case of anything goes. enjoy.
goodbye girl dont you need some stock in your soup,as adding just water would make tasteless!!!
Lentil and Tomato Soup

1 Onion finely chopped
8 oz carrots diced
6oz red lentils
1 and a half pint veg stock
1 14 oz can plum tomatoes
Salt and pepper

Put all ingredients in pan and simmer covered until lentils are cooked. Liquidise when ready.
I use a slow cooker but am sure it would work just as well on the hob....
Chopped leeks
Chopped celery
Diced carrots
Diced onion
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Veggie stock cube
One pint of boiling water
Carrot and Coriander Soup

1 diced onion
1 kg sliced carrots
stock
coriander (fresh or dried)

Fry the onion til it's clear, add the carrots and the coriander (to taste) for 3 - 4 minutes. Add stock - I use chicken - as much as you think looks right, and boil for half an hour.

Liquidise

So easy and very tasty!
Oh, and garlic, I add garlic to my soups. Also, I don't liquidise them as I like the chunkiness.
Pearl or Pot Barley is good for adding a bit of thickness too......
Broccoli soup.

Cook broccoli florets (NOT the stalks) in veg or chicken stock & seasoning for 15 minutes. Liquidise & serve.

How easy is that?
chicken and sweetcorn cuppa soup lovely
Buy some of this instead of cubes to make your stock, it's lovely & no msg
