For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i went to a raclette party at a friends a couple of months ago and it was awful, good thing i wasnt particularly hungry! so fiddley and waste of time. think she just wanted us to cook our own meal. we had bowls of: mushroom, onion, chopped bacon, peppers, grated cheese and a jug of whisked egg. Its really not my thing at all. oh i think there were very small pieces of spicey marinated chicken too.
At home (France), we have large plates of "charcuterie" = ham, salami, parma ham.....and boiled potatoes. Sometimes cauliflower too,and pickles, it goes very well with it.
The secret is in the cheese though! It has to be the proper one, "fromage a raclette" (don't know what it's called here!).

Woozer....A raclette is a meal of melted cheese served on cold meats and boiled potatoes. At home, you can get an electric machine you can leave on the table. It has little compartments for small individual pans, in which you place a slice of cheese, and the machine melts it (it's a sort of grill). You then scrape it from the pan and pour it over your veg or meats. It's delicious!
