Depends how hot you want the food. The more seeds you leave in the hotter it will be.

It's not a silly question :-)
If possible prepare chillies by wearing rubber/plastic gloves,as the oil in the chillies is very very hot,and you wouldn't want to touch any sensitive parts (would you?)
A neighbour of ours (male) was making chillie vinegar, and thought he had washed/scrubbed his hands thoroughly (he hadn't).
Later in the evening he went to the loo( or a pee)
Well, some minutes after his willie was on fire,he was uncircumcised which made it worse as the chillie oil had got underneath!
His partner rang the A&E at the local hospital and when the Doctor had stopped laughing (seriously) he told him to wrap an ice pack around it.
He did this, and after about 45 minutes the pain started to subside.
So just you be careful with those chillies!
Hi, I always leave the seeds in. I like it hot and apart from that I am too lazy to be scraping them out. As for preparing them I find that if you rub a very small bit of vegetable oil on the fingers that you hold the chillies in that stops the problem that Mr Veritas talks about.
Everyone thinks the seeds are the hottest part of a chilli. Quite simply, they're not! The hottest part is the pale spongy pith on the inside that the seeds are attached to. Seeds come second.
