Not very long. They thrive better in a shed with access to straw for bedding, fresh food and water etc....

However, according to the little pictures inside the door of my freezer, it seems to be indicating that poultry can be kept for 12 months.

You've got a turkey left in your freezer from last year, haven't you?

Freezers work by slowing down, but not completely stopping the decomposition of the food. The coldere the freezer the longer you can keep food in it. You can keep a turkey in the freezer forever, but if the freezer is not cold enough it might not be edible when you take it out.
As brachiopod suggests, freezers have information about how long food will keep on them, or in the handbook.
