alcohol in cake

hiya im making a birthday cake for my friend today and thought the sound of a chocolate and ammeretto sounded tottally lush. The thing is i was wondering would i be better putting the alcohol into the cake mix or into the chocolate ganache, any suggestions would be great thanks xxxx

as a non-professional, I'd say but it in the cake mix. Jayne would say both.
Hi lotsa,
not 100% sure, but I would think it would be better added to the ganache! Christmas cakes are 'fed' after baking. If you add alcohol to your choc cake it will evaporate & will be wasted. I would add it to the ganache a little at a time so not to spoil the volume & taste test as you add x

Don't put the alcohol in the sponge !! Put it in the ganache.
I make a delicious cake using alcohol and always add the alcohol in the cake batter. And after the cake is baked I saturate it with rum or wine and let it sit over night before cutting.
