Is is correct that Branston has been taken completely off the market due to an additive causing problems in the gut with long term consumers? I knew about the fire but not this,a supervisor at Tesco told me yesterday.

Its not off the market completely, supplies are slowly reappearing. The factory it was made in was destroyed by fire.

Not heard a whisper of the stoty you mention - sounds like a misunderstanding

They were pulling your leg.

Or, more likely, someone else has been pulling their leg and they were gullible enough to believe it.

"It was on a chian e-mail I received - so it must be true...."

(sorry, that's chain.)

The Branston  was certainly in Sainsbury's yesterday FINA,  because of the recent  pickle/chutney mail I made a special  point of searching for it.

Something else I spotted that was also mentioned was Piccalilli - but sadly nothing for the Panyan lovers.

I have bought some in my local tesco today. That supervisor should be careful about passing on such rumours while at work and representing her firm, if Branston get peeved with Tesco's over it they (Branston) could make big trouble

Thank you all for you input. Maybe I should say something to that supervisor when I next see her!
