If you mean unopened wine then it depends what it is; a Beaujolais Noveau would  detriorate after three months, a good Bordeaux would still be improving after 10 years.

The overwheming majority of wine is ready for drinking immediately and will keep for a couple of years. There are  few wines which should be kept to improve. 99% of supermarket wines should be drunk withing 3 years of purchase but will continue to be drinkable later.

There's a difference between undrinkable and not pleasant to drink.

Perhaps you could tell us what wine you have?

For an opened bottle, recork, put upright in fridge and it should be OK for a couple of days.

duh, drink it now you looser
