Thanks mccfluff, never used them before, do they taste like peas or other?
not really - have you had humous? thats bascially mashed chickpeas with garlic, lemon juice etc. i can't really thing how to describe them otherwise apart from a kind of dry texture if that makes sense.

its the dried ones in bags you have to soak btw.

Thanks again mccfluff, I do like humous so I will just tip them in and hope for the best, can always pick them out if they don't taste any good : -)
they have a similar kind of texture to kidney beans without the skin, a bit sort of crunchy. i love them and add them to lots of things, they don't have a strong taste but really add to the texture of a dish. i always rinse tinned ones.
They're better known as garbanzos here in the U.S. and used in lots of recipes, often substituting for beans in chile or other dishes...
