Nothing.

Sorry, I can't stand bubble and squeak.

Is it one of those northern, faggoty traditions ?

Gross !
high mrs.c - never have any, I love my veggies and clear the plate every time
I love fried veg and potatoe cakes and deep fried jam butties in batter, well done!
Never have leftovers - unless someone's given me asparagus or artichokes by mistake - then they go straight in the food waste bin

"northern faggoty traditions"?

Don't start me off
I thought faggots were made in South Wales, mind you everywhere is North to JJ lol

Jayne, have you ever actually tasted it?

Nothing goes to waste in my house, food-wise.
Tonight my gf made home made fishcakes from cooked white and yellow haddock mixed with leftover mashed tattie, then covered in flour/egg/breadcrumbs, brushed with oil and baked in oven

They were superb
I throw the remainder of the sunday roast, with extra bits of veg and diced potatoes into the slow cooker on Monday mornings for tea that day.

Any food that's left over from any day's tea is 'tupperwared' to take to work during the week for my dinners.
Oh and if by some miracle we've bread left of a loaf that's gone a bit stale, it's made into a bread and butter pudding, and frozen if not wanted that particular day.
I;m with B00, leftovers get all chumbled together and taken for lunch. The other day I had three cold sausages chopped up with some cold wild rice and a large splash of sweet & sour sauce, in a box with some salad. The more chumbled, the better, yum!

Ladies after my own heart (and joe).
Sadly mine's through necessity Mrs C, only one of us working, and thats me on a part time wage.

Times are tough :P

Sorry to read that, B00. These days I can afford expensive food but old habits die hard. As kids we were happy with a jam sandwich for tea (if we were lucky).

(Cue 'You were lucky - I lived in a cardboard box with my 12 siblings' thread). [:o)
Sign of the times sadly B00, but we were brought up "waste not want not" - I remember leathery old roast potatoes on a plate for a couple of days ater Sundays in my mum's cold larder when I was little. We used to put a bit of butter on them and eat them cold for a treat.
Hi, again ...

Have I tasted bubble and squeak?

Well, yonks ago, yes.

But it smells like the waste bin outside some restaurants.

And faggots ... I thought they were a northern, erm ... "delicacy" !

Okay, so maybe the faggoty tradition could be Welsh.

But hey ... why would anyone care where they are from !
Faggots are in Brum, I daresay NoM is tucking in right now...
NoMercy is in Birmingham?

As opposed to ... Spain, perhaps?
Question Author
