yes a hand blender is just as good and less washing up do the only difference is that the smoothy maker has a stirring stick and a pouring nozzle. and cost twice as much why pay for a load of extras when a hand blender or even a mixer will be just a good.
I bought a blender and wish I hadn't bothered! It doesn't blend the smoothie fine enough to drink, and when I make soup I have to puree it in batches as it doesn't hold enough.
I got rid of it and bought a smoothie maker for drinks and a hand blender for soup as I don't find any blender able to make a fine enough drink!
I do sometimes as well....but I'm an impatient soul and find I miss bits. Not a problem with a chucky soup but when I want a smooth soup...that I'll put through a sieve....I get really bothered by it.
I mean...who wants to waste a tiny bit of cauliflower? (that's my latest fav)
A smoothie maker is a blender with a tap fitted. How can you make sure the tap has been properly cleaned out after each use? The blender is simpler to clean and has to be more hygenic.
