When is the season for pickling,is it september?

Is there an onion pickling season? I thought one could pickle onions or anything they want to pickle anytime they want.

Thought i used to see them selling pickling onions and spiced vinegar,at a certain time of the year...

Actually, anytime you have approriate onions available. This time of the year seems more appropriate for those of us that raise our own. Mine, here in the U.S., have been coming on rapidly... several of the smaller ones have already been canned and are sitting prettily on the cellar shelf...
