Is there any alternative to sticking the marzipan on with apricot jam, as we're not too keen on it?

Actually -port works really well -paint it on and stick the marzipan down really well -it seems to bond with the paste and adds a lovely taste -

That sounds like it's worth a try, Crystal. Thinking about it, if it works with port, almost any sweet liqueur should work, too, like Grand Marnier, Drambuie, etc. Yum!

anything sticky will work, I use any jam in the fridge!..............
