Self-raising flour to thicken the inside of a cottage pie or does it does it have to be plain flour?

It ok to use self-rising flour, Sherrad.
potato powder can be good at thickening anything savoury, Smash or such like
I would use a little cornflour or bisto/oxo granules.
to be honest sr flour or plain it wont make any difference but i wouldnt use cornflour as you may find it will leave an unwanted taste corn starch is best if your going down that road
In the Uk cornflour and corn starch are the same thing
