can you cook with corked wine? or would this be just so bad as the wine is off? opened a special bottle given to me, a 1994 wine and it was so disappointing.

If you were disappointed because it was corked then you shouldn't cook with it. There's many a wine that has been recommended to me and it was a disappointment when I tasted it......though perfectly drinkable by someone it suited.
