Went into Waitrose and bought two large (2.8 kilo each) chickens and they ended up costing me 84p.!!

Waitrose are running an offer - two chickens at £4.57 each for £7.00 - so you save £2.14.

The two I bought were reduced to £1.49 each but the till still took off the £2.14.

Excellent, I was well chuffed!!

84p

Now, did the chickens have a good life?
Excellent! Waitrose are very good at this sort of thing - sometimes you get fresh stuff virtually free.
...nobody going to say "chicken going cheep" ?

ummmm, don't know about good life, I don't think Waitrose use battery chickens, so hopefully life wasn't too bad.

Also, unfortunately, funds are very low at the moment (hubby is very poorly and off work) so I can't be as choosy as I would normally be.
I would, in your position, feed them whatever my money could buy.

Sorry for the guilt trip comment x
i hope hubby feels better soon..i love a bargain !!!!
Nice one chickadee!
I must try Waitrose then. All of the other stores seem to have now got systems which automatically remove any special offers on discounted items :-(

Before most stores worked out how to stop their computers from making 'silly' reductions, I once bought some short-dated yoghurts in Asda where (because of an anomaly of the type you've experienced) my total bill was less than if I'd not bought the yoghurts at all!

Chris (Yes, Asda paid me to take them away!)
