Turkey Crowns

Are Turkey crowns tasty enough was thinking of getting one as they are a liitle cheaper that the whole turkey some people say you need the bone to give more flavour, your views please

I prefer them. I don't think turkey has much taste anyway...

we ate one last year and enjoyed it so much we've another for this year too.

There's only two and a bit of us to eat it, so it's plenty enough for that, and like I said ,we didn't notice a difference between that and a full turkey taste wise.

Yes turkey is very dry, more taste from chicken but it is traditional for having a turkey although I would prefer salmon for dinner.

Actually, boar or goose used to be traditional, and then roast beef Turkey is relatively recent. Turkey used to be an expensive meat that was a treat at Christmas, as was chicken. As Turkey is now the cheapest meat out there and is eaten all year round I can't see why people still have it at Christmas (except perhaps that it feeds a lot of people).

If you would prefer salmon why don't you have it?

I'm not having turkey. I'm getting a small chicken because my son loves chicken and we can use the left overs for sandwiches. Other than that it's duck and beef.

I guessed that ummmm. I just thought that it wasn't very nice to refer to her little daughter as a 'bit'!! ;o). Perhaps she means the dog and Mini Boo gets fish fingers!!

Yep, you should have your favourite dinner at Christmas and with us it's Rib of Beef with all the trimmings.

I have told my son we will except to go to his next Christmas and he has promised us Curry!!! He makes a mean curry, so I wouldn't mind.

Not keen on turkey breast as its usually quite dry. I prefer a whole turkey so I can get my chops round a leg.

What part of the turkey is the crown? I Googled the picture, and in most of the pictures I saw a whole turkey, well a few pictures the legs were missing.

Oscarina, FYI, our local Tesco has whole salmon, was £14, reduced to £10, and now selling for a fiver each!!.

The bone in a Turkey gives more flavour? What a load of old gobblers (see what I did there, lol).

I usually get a crown (just 2 breasts joined together really) but have just got a single large turkey breast this year. Not a lover of turkey, and certainly not enough to be eating it right round until February.

you get bone in it..if you don't like brown meat then IMO they are a good deal...dearer per lb than a whole turkey though
