What would be the most healthy (low fat) thing to choose off tonight's menu at the Italian:

Caesar Salad (with chicken, anchovies & tiger prawns) with french fries.
Chicken with gorgonzola sauce with french fries.
Penne pasta with salmon & broccoli in a cream & chilli sauce with french fries.
Lobster & Crab ravioli in a cream & saffron sauce with french fries.

Or should I swap the french fries for garlic bread with caramelised onions & mozzarella?

i would go with salad, keep the fries
To be honest I would just have what you want because they are all high-fat. You could have crusty bread instead of the fries to minimise the damage though.
I've never had pasta with fries..............
Lol - not a weight watchers menu there.

I would have the lobster & crab ravioli...just because it sounds the nicest.
If you are going out, I would knock the diet on the head on go for what you like. Life is too short and I'm sure an extra portion of chicken won't turn you into a half ton freak.

I agree with 237SJ, I would go off diet this once and have what you like.

However if you do want to stay on diet then the salad but without the caesar dressing and no fries.

That's decided then, thanks folks. Life's too short to be on a diet when you're choosing and eating Italian.

And of course, the bottle of Red will counteract any wrongdoings - as it is, of course, medicinal as well as traditional.......
Have the salad no dressing no fries because you will probably drink a couple of thousand calories.....
Forget the Italian Sal, go down t'chippy
Question Author
It is impossible for me to have salad with dressing - it is the dressing that makes it palatable.....
I might drop the fries and share the garlic bread with Lil.

Rowan - very perceptive about the alcoholic calories. ;-)
If you drink a bottle of wine it would be about 10 old style weightwatchers points. So would the chips. Swap the chips for wine.
thought I might be right....and I suppose the garlic helps too ...and if you have some bread and olive oil its mono-saturated or something else good for you... you might as well have pudding too and cheese...
Question Author
Ok - so am I correct - it is the pasta, garlic bread to share and wine to wash it down with.

Mmmm, I can cope with that....
The sauces will kill you no matter what
I think I'd try the penne pasta out of that lot but leave the french fries off, pasta and french fries doesn't sound very nice at all to me.
pleasure is rare enough in this life....carpe Deum or rather Carpe the sweet trolley
Lol very clever Rowan
Question Author
Very good - but I'm more of a savoury person - so if I skip the sweet trolley, then I can have fries and bread.....
You are going to have them anyway why ask permission...and by the time you have your third bottle of red you won't feel guilty at all Enjoy your meal
