Anyone shop in a Halal butchers?

Would you recommend them?

What reasons would they be then Molly?
I'm with Old Geezer, I don't approve of the way an animal is slaughtered for Halal, so wouldn't touch it.
At what age do you propose growing your social conscience, molly ?
for the vegie - I don't particularly like the taste or texture of most meat and fatty meat is nicest btu i try to be healthy, plus it's expensive and I'll be a student soon in crippling debt so i won't be able to affrod meat and even i could jsut about i wouldn't buy 'value' stuff as I prefer the ethics of free range and all that jazz.

for the ethics of halal - they kill the animals by slitting their throats and it's against the religion to stun them etc so they don't feel pain. If you're going to kill something, why do it in a way that causes so much pain when there are better ways to do it - it's madness.

It's not like they torture them.
What's that meant to mean jack?
They might aswell be umm if they can't be bothered to put the animal through as little pain as possible - it's verging on barbaric IMO especially when they could do it more ethically.

Anyone ever ate pheasant?
I was wondering why you aren't a vegetarian at the moment........
Is pheasant pleasant ?
In Molly's defence- there were two others (me included) who also said they didn't agree with the ethics of Halal meat. How come Molly is the one who's having to explain herself?
I was wondering the same ...
ummm and it's the same with other meat such as fois gras and veil, both of which I would never eat.
Question Author
I didn't eat meat at Molly's age....because I didn't want to. So I got served up everything but the meat.
"I'll be vegetarian when I'm older ... "

Do you not have the choice now?
Yes to pheasant - not too bad. Had it in a "Gastro Pub" close to where we live. Was in a port wine sauce and served with veg.
jack i live at home wih my parents so it's difficult but as soon as I leave home i will be. if I could my own food (most of the time TBH) or go out for a meal I almost always pick a veggie option.

But if i'm cooking it's usually for mum aswell who wants meat, but she'll get more than me and Inever cook red meat - yuck.
