I knew that once you got into the habit you wouldn't stop. I just don't buy shop bread any more unless we are away from home. Homemade bread is just so much more substantial and tastes so good!!

I usually make wholemeal with Allinsons flour - their Country Grain flour is excellent too!!

And add some cheese and onion!!! Yummy
I make spiced fruit bread quite often - that smells lush.
It's so lovely to smell the bread when you wake up in the morning. I always bags the hot crust!! He doesn't get a look in!!

yes, I have tried quite a few recipes Lottie, some disastrous too..LOL
The most disastrous one I had was when I forgot to put the water in Bobbi, so the only liquid was the oil!!!! Well, I was very tired that night! :o(

one forgot the yeast, ended up with a stottie..LOL
What is a Stottie. Talk English woman!!!
Stottie is a traditional geordie bread,my mum, a sand-dancer used to bake normal bread three days a week and stotties on the two days, When I was living at home Tuesdays and Thursdays snap was always proper geordie snap, stottie, home cooked ham and pease pudding, can't remember her recipe but here's one I just found that sounds about right

Snap, that brings back memories Paddywak. My Dad was from the NE. South Shields. He always referred to his packup as Snap....Thanks for the memory x
There's quite a few of us from that area down here, my folks came down here in 1926,but we had an influx 60's when a lot of the NE pits were closed, my mums all time favorite series (it was to good to be called a soap) was "When The Boat Comes In" she always said it brought back so many memories of her childhood
