I've become quite the master of (cheddar) cheese scones, if I say so myself. I use half a teaspoon of mustard powder. Very nice they are too.
But has anyone any fresh ideas about 'spicing' things up. Different types of cheese? Something other than mustard powder? How about dried bacon bits, anyone tried something like that?

Instead of mustard powder, I use French grain mustard. Some very finely minced spring onions are also good.

Svejk, send some my way. I LOVE cheese scones especially made with VERY strong old moustrap. I always put more than a half tsp of mustard powder in my mix. I also used up some left over cambazola in the mix once. Lovely !
Bit of piquant smoked paprika perhaps as opposed to Dulche to spice it up a tad.?
I've not made them in a good while,svejk...but probably a heaped teaspoon...or more.
Mmmmm. Svejk Patmore. Has a certain je n'est ce quoi ring about it. Gotta pinny? :-)
If I was to try something different I would go for something like banana and cinnamon.
