Where are you? We miss your recipes. You havn't been on since the evil pixie person was horrible to you. Come back.
Just so this qualifies any recipes for butternut squash. Had it baked and roasted -lovely and also made a nice soup from it too. Anything else though would be fab.

I see what you mean, a little uncalled for but i am sure she meant no offence by it. I don't mind how many times i see recipes, if its something you don't fancy it easy enough to skip to the next one and far too much effort to say something unpleasant.
Come back bbwchatt, it seems we all miss you and want some more recipes. I have 2 butternut squash in my fridge at the moment, what shall i do with them?

Hi A - presume you've lost the Astray.com link!
Rice, apple and butternut bisque; add to veg chili; make up with pork for sausage stuffing; use in pasta once cooked - blanch, steam or roast; bake with madeira or masala wine; stuff with leeks and cheese then roast; add to bean stew - any mix of beans you fancy; make a dessert with it and use with a nice creamy custard and pecan nuts in a sweet pastry case; use a base for soups and try with prawns, sage, chicken, tomato, caulliflower, broccoli....; roast with crispy smoked bacon or lardons and roasted chestnuts; use in a veg curry or add to meat curry for texture; add to a veg quiche; add to couscous; serve with other veg on the barbecue...........
Hope this helps!

Hi A - I think some veg are forgotten as desserts. There are a load of nice ideas like the squash with pecan and custard, such as obvious ones like carrott cake and pumpkin pie and the derivatives.
Have look for sweet potatoes used in pies or being candied, muffins with veg instead of fruits such as with beetroot, courgettes in brownies etc.
And as for squash in curries which gives a really tasty extra taste to the veg. and really recommend, if you like that how about making a cheese fondue but inside a pumpkin or round squah? Hollow out the pumpkin, bake and fill the centre with cheese fondue 'sauce' to your fave recipe. Then get to eat the 'shell' after the fondue part of the meal.......
Ta for now...

The mean people had won - I stopped signing on to and posting on AB. It had happened several times before - and once before - when a mean person said all of my recipes were the kind to make people have a heart attack - when I had posted a recipe I had seen being made by a lady chef on our Food Network on TV for Cheeseburger Soup. I responded by telling them that I had not personally tried the recipe and that I wasnt recommending it be served in massive quantities or on a daily basis. I decided it just wasnt worth taking the abuse - and many times lack of any response at all - for my tiny effort to help some of the people who had questions on AB. This time was just the last straw for me. I gave up. I didnt sign on AB for days. Now being an old lady - it is very difficult to surprise me. I have lived too long and seen and done too much.
One day, missing the interesting questions on AB, I decided to just READ the questions, even though I still NEVER intended to post again. There, I got one of the biggest surprises of my life!!! Several people had Posted on my parting apology to one of the mean people - cameo, shaneystar2, In A Pickle, warpig1 and spk - not only that, but they were all very supportive and so very kind in saying they wanted me to come back!!! That was a big enough shock - but there was more to come. Athley posted a question entitled BBWCHATT asking me to come back - and there were responses from warpig1, janetsflower, sophieb and jennyp asking me to come back also. Then Warpig1 came up with a unique approach to lure me back - asking me for my favorite Taco Soup recipe - which also had responses from shaneystar2 and Athley!!!

This old lady is famous (or infamous) for never changing her mind once she has made a decision. That was before I encountered some of the kindest and nicest people in the world.
Mean people beware - BBWCHATT is back and she wont let you get rid of her ever again!!!
How do you make an old lady from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA feel like a million dollars? Ask the nice people on AB - they are experts at it!!!
Thank you nice people from the bottom of my heart. You have made me feel like a million dollars and humbled all at the same time!!!!

I have apologised to BBWCHATT. My comment was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but didn't work. I have posted a full reply against BBWCHATT post addressed directly to me but I want to express my apology against posts where I have been described as "evil". My offence was unintentional and being called "evil" feels like punch in the stomach.
Hello - well I sort of started this so try to end it also. Fab to have BBW back as I said in the other posting.
I apologise for calling you the evil pixie (didn't think others would pick up on that one - was also a bit tongue in cheek). Trouble is when you can't see people and just read things its easier to take offence which is a pity.
Welcome back to everyone - afterall we are coming up to the Christmas period and we're going to need some pretty good recipes soon!!!
:-) :-) Lots of smiley faces to all!
