I have 2 Haddock fillets I want to steam, do I just pop them directly into my tiered steamer? Or do you wrap them or something first? I've never used the steamer for anything other than veg before. Same question goes for chicken??

Fraser - I might line the steamer with lettuce leaves and then place the fish on top of them and sprinkle the herbs/spices on them.

Thanks for this.
Could I just steam them without laying them on anything? I take it this would be ok? I have a mornay sauce i'm going to put on it...
Fraser - I have never tried it that way - and I would be afraid the fish might stick to the steamer a little bit and/or make it harder to clean - which is more of a concern with fish or chicken than vegetables I think.

I just had another idea - why can't you just put it in a heat resistant dish and set it inside the steamer? That would make it VERY easy to do AND clean up.
No need to wrap either the fish or the chicken.
Just slightly oil the base of your steamer, that will prevent sticking. Buy an oil spray, it work wonders.

Thanks ernestoba, I put them in and they didn't appear to stick, and they tasted gorgeous, glad the same works for chicken, will give it a go with a little oil too!!
