At a dinner party in Spain I drank an excellent bitter orange liqueur, which my host told me he'd made by steeping orange marmalade in a fairly bog standard French brandy for some months. I've lost the recipe/instructions - anyone know anything about this sort of thing? Thanks

We make our own liqueurs by putting 1 bottle of vodka 3-4 dltrs of ordinary sugar ( According to taste ) and 1 litre of fruit together , put them in a sealed jar for minimum of two weeks -we leave ours for months - strain the liquid off and then dilute with 1 1/2 times water to vodka before drinking eg 1 litre of vodka to 11/2 litres of water
We have not had much success with bananas or peaches
If you use plums put some of the stones in to taste
All recipes can be done with other spirits -gin- brandy or even whisky but that can be a bit overpowering

OK, thanks for your help - I do make various liqueurs and cordials, but I particularly wanted to have a go at this marmalade/brandy recipe. I think I'll just wing it, I don't think I can go too far wrong
greenrook, please let me know if it works out. i have been watching this thread with interest, cos it sounds delicious.

OK Mandimoo, I'll do that, I'm starting it today as a matter of fact - I'll know in a few weeks what it's going to turn out like, and I'll keep you posted. The waiting is the hard part when making any sort of booze! -G-
