What is the difference between ordinary boiled and pilau rice you get from an Indian restaurant/take away. I know it sometimes has different highly-coloured grains but it seems to taste the same. TIA

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I don't find it tastes the same at all.... the plain boiled rice just tastes of errrr, *plain boiled rice* whilst the pilau rice has a slightly spicy flavour - probably due to the cardoman, cinnamon, saffron and other flavourings added.
