german soup!!

I ate out at a restaurant in the black forest in Germany and I had a soup which I think was a very dark clear stock but it had strips of pancake in it. Does anybody know what it is called and how to make it. Thanks

Thank you to whoever sent back that quick answer. One more question. It says in the recipe "beef broth". Can you buy it or do you have to make it and if so, how???
