I just want to make a sort of stewed rhubarb to eat for lunch in work, I'm not bothered about making pies or crumble or anything like that.

don;t see why not just put ingrediants in - but just check it frequently as timings are goign to depend very much on the wattage of the nuker

I'm a little late in the day posting an answer, however if you cook the rhubarb in a little orange juice, a pinch of ginger and sweetener to taste it is delicious. The microwave is excellent for cooking this. Rhubarb freezes very well and I often cook it straight from the freezer using this method
