Sims 3 windows 7

I bought sims 3 for pc, which it says its for mac and windows xp... my pc is an acer windows 7 and when i play the game it freezes after 5 minutes and i have to shut down my computer manually. I have looked at the specs and i think its because my graphic card is not compatable. I have noticed you can buy the sims add-ons and some of them are windows 7 compatable. I was wondering if i bought a sims windows 7 compatable add-on game, could i play it through that and would it work? or would i need a new graphics card?

If your graphics card is not up to it then you need a better graphics card.
