had my nintendo for about 5 years and it has died when switched on the screen lights up for a short while then goes black is there any hope for it or should I get a new one

Can the rechargeable battery be exchanged for a new one? 5years is good going if it's the original one.

just call me stupid just realised that the red light was a low battery warning gave it a hard knock and now it is charging orange light DOH
