Iphone 3 Backup

I have an iPhone 3 and use The iCloud to save things. However, is there any way of saving my messages (texts)? Also the iCloud won't save my notes or mail without me setting up some new email address?! I don't really understand this. My email is with AOL and I don't want a new email address. Is there any way around this? Thanks

P.S I have noticed that my Notes from my iPhone are actually stored in a folder called "Notes" in my AOL mail. No idea why. So, how can I get my messages saved in the same way? Or any way?

You can't save text messages through the Cloud. There are separate apps you can buy that store them in text format though. I don't understand why you need the Cloud to back up your emails when they are already in your AOL account?

Just another back up, bushbaby! AOL isn't the most reliable...
Do you know what applications I can buy to back up my texts?x

I don't use one so can't recommend - maybe others can suggest or you can Google it. I did a lot of research on backing up all the various elements of my iphone a few weeks ago so read a lot about it, but decided backing up texts was more hassle than it was worth to me!
